Confidence before complexity
Foundations
For adults who are new to swimming, uneasy in the water or returning after enough time away that it no longer feels familiar.
How coaching can help
There’s no pressure to push through hesitation. You agree on a comfortable starting point, try a small skill and stop to talk whenever you need to. Understanding what the water is doing often removes more fear than another rushed lap.
- Comfort, breathing and calm submersion
- Floating, balance and body awareness
- Freestyle foundations and rhythm
- Treading water and recovery positions
At your first lesson
Expect plenty of conversation and no surprises. Talk through your history and what would count as a good result for you. The water work begins somewhere secure and finishes with one or two things you feel comfortable repeating.
